Catarina Martins warns: University of Coimbra "is being a terrible landlord" for the repúblicas

Catarina Martins, MEP from Left Bloc, criticized this Friday, August 28, the University of Coimbra's actions regarding student repúblicas. The Left Bloc member considered that the institution is acting as "a terrible landlord" for these student housing structures.

The repúblicas are traditional student housing cooperatives in the city of Coimbra, with a long history and strong connection to academic life. Catarina Martins warned about problems in the relationship between the university and these student organizations.

The criticism comes at a time of tension between the University of Coimbra and the repúblicas, which have been fighting to maintain their autonomy and operating conditions. The MEP expressed support for the students affected by this situation.

Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António signs deeds for 114 housing units from the former Cine-Foz
