Lisbon lost family doctor access for another 50 thousand patients in a period of one year, worsening the situation in the region that was already the most problematic in the country for this indicator. The number of people without an assigned family doctor increased significantly throughout the national territory.
The increase in the number of patients without a family doctor was more pronounced in areas of the Lisbon region with significant immigrant population growth. This trend reflects the additional pressure that the arrival of new residents placed on health services in the capital.
The North and Center regions managed to partially offset the deterioration observed in the south of the country. These regions managed to maintain or improve their family doctor coverage indicators, contributing to balancing the national data.
The data reveal a growing disparity between the different regions of the country, with the Lisbon and Tagus Valley area concentrating the largest deficit in family doctor coverage, while other regions present a more balanced situation.
