The president of JAD Madeira, Gonçalo Margarido, warned about the difficulties faced by young people in the Madeira region in gaining access to housing. According to the official, low incomes combined with high real estate prices are creating significant barriers for Madeiran young people.
This situation is having concrete consequences, leading many young people to choose to leave the region and settle abroad. Margarido believes that this exodus of young people compromises the ability to build a life project in the region itself.
The warning comes in the context of a broader debate about access to housing for the young population, a challenge that affects not only Madeira but also other regions of the country and Europe.
