Mud, water and risk of new floods hinder rescue operations in Nepal

Rescue operations in Nepal face great difficulties due to mud, water and the risk of new floods. Sérgio Santos, commander of the fire brigade in Saudi Arabia, explained that, unlike what happens in an earthquake, where there may be air pockets among the rubble, floods leave a scenario dominated by water and mud, rapidly reducing the possibilities of survival. Therefore, the speed of the operations is essential.

Woman seriously injured after being hit by car in Vila Nova de Anha

A woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Vila Nova de Anha, in front of Restaurante Anabela. The alert was given at 12:16 to the Sub-Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Alto Minho. Sapadores de Viana do Castelo, the VMER and the GNR were on scene, providing assistance to the victim. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by authorities.
