Sardine on the Tile and Potato in the Sand Festival Animates Praia da Tocha Beach

The Grilled Sardine on the Tile and Grilled Potato in the Sand Festival takes place from Friday to Sunday in the gardens of the Residents' Association of Praia da Tocha, promoting the gastronomic potential of the Gândara region. The program includes musical entertainment with Ritmo Popular and Bruno Pato. These delicacies, inherited from times when fishermen and peasants took advantage of available resources, result from deeply rooted traditions: sardine was grilled on clay roof tiles in wood-fired ovens and potatoes were buried in sand pits heated by bonfires. Associated with xávega fishing operations and popular festivals, these practices have become identity symbols of the region, and the festival seeks to recover and celebrate this gastronomic and cultural heritage.
