DR Congo starts vaccination to combat fastest Ebola outbreak in history

The Democratic Republic of Congo has launched a vaccination campaign to combat an Ebola outbreak that is spreading at a rate considered the fastest in the history of the disease.

Health workers and workers on the frontlines of the outbreak response are being prioritized for access to the vaccine.

The vaccine used is Ervebo, which has proven to be effective in previous Ebola outbreaks.

However, experts warn that this vaccine was tested against a different and more common type of the disease, raising questions about its complete efficacy against the current variant of the outbreak.
