Ebola: DR Congo launches vaccination to combat fastest-growing outbreak in history

The Democratic Republic of Congo has begun vaccinating the population against Ebola, in a race against time to contain an outbreak that is growing faster than any other in the history of the disease. Health authorities are working to halt the spread of the virus in the country.

The current outbreak is described as the fastest-growing ever recorded, which places additional pressure on response teams who are trying to vaccinate affected communities. The speed of spread has made a massive and urgent vaccination effort necessary.

The vaccination campaign has emerged as the main tool to try to control the situation and prevent the outbreak from spreading further. Congolese health authorities, in coordination with international partners, are prioritizing the most affected areas and highest-risk populations.
