Syria's transitional president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, appointed Mazloum Abdi as his advisor. Abdi is the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
This appointment comes after Abdi announced this week the dissolution of the Kurdish-Arab militias he led. The decision marks a significant shift in the region's military and political structure.
Ahmad al-Sharaa, who assumes the transitional leadership in Syria, thus reinforces his team with a prominent military figure, integrating the former SDF commander into his circle of advisors.
