This is how the Villena Treasure robbery happened: six hooded individuals with riot gear who knew what they were after

Six hooded individuals wearing beekeeper masks used riot gear to break the display cases at the Villena Museum (Muvi) and steal the Villena Treasure, one of the greatest archaeological treasures of the Iberian Peninsula. The Guardia Civil is investigating the museum's security camera footage to identify the perpetrators of the robbery.

The recordings make it possible to identify at least six people connected to the operation, although other sources place the number of individuals seen inside the museum at three. Investigators are not ruling out that more people participated in the assault, as at least two high-end vehicles were used to block access to the building and facilitate the escape.

Everything was perfectly planned to be carried out in just four minutes. The thieves knew exactly what they were looking for, to the point of leaving aside other valuable objects on display in the museum. They acted with the precision of a military commando, entering the museum, breaking the display cases and fleeing immediately with the treasure.
