Vouzela and Valpaços Rural Fires Officially Recognized as Natural Catastrophe

SIC Notícias28 August 2026 at 00:55

The rural fires that affected the municipalities of Vouzela and Valpaços were officially recognized as a natural catastrophe. This decision allows specific support to be activated for the affected populations and territories.

The objective of the support is to restore the production conditions of the agricultural holdings that were affected by the fires. The aim is thus to ensure that farmers in both regions can resume their normal activity as quickly as possible.

This recognition comes following the rural fires that devastated areas of these two municipalities, causing significant damage to the local agricultural sector.
