After death of veterinarian attacked by Senate dog, legislative house closes kennel

The Federal Senate suspended indefinitely the kennel activities following the death of veterinarian Vitória Valle de Oliveira Pinha, 36 years old, who was attacked by a dog from the house last Saturday. The measure aims to reassess procedures and guidelines of the service, while investigations continue by the competent authorities. The Court of Justice of the Federal District decided that the inquiry should fall under Federal Justice jurisdiction, removing the case from the civil police, who had been investigating it as a "work accident." Dogs loaned by legislative police officers must be returned to their respective owners.
