Sernancelhe and Cinfães among the municipalities with the largest burned area between 2020 and 2025

Covilhã was the municipality with the largest burned area in Portugal between 2020 and 2025, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). The ten municipalities with the largest burned area in that period are all located in the Norte and Centro regions of the country, with the municipalities of Sernancelhe and Cinfães, both in the district of Viseu, ranking among the top eight. The INE data makes it possible to identify the areas most affected by forest fires in Portugal during this five-year period.

Gouveia – Rescue of weakened bird of prey

The Territorial Command of Guarda, through the SEPNA of the Gouveia Detachment, collected a bird of prey of the booted eagle species that was found weakened in the industrial zone of Gouveia by a citizen. The animal was delivered to the Center for Ecology, Recovery and Surveillance of Wild Animals (CERVAS), where it will receive the necessary care for later return to its natural habitat. The GNR appeals to the population to report situations of injured or weakened wild animals through the SOS Environment and Territory Line.
