Connor Hill, a 17-year-old young man, managed to solve a geometry problem that had remained open for over a century: determining all the so-called noble polyhedra. While searching for new noble polyhedra, Hill proved that there are 146 isolated cases, 85 of which were completely unknown, in addition to two infinite families. The work, which earned him the top prize at the Regeneron STS in March, was now published as a preprint on arXiv on July 30, presenting a computer-assisted mathematical proof that definitively settles this mathematical question.
