The Rio de Janeiro health insurance operator Assim is in the process of being sold to businessman Rafael Motta, founder of insurance broker Case and current president of the Brazilian arm of Gallagher Benefícios, an American multinational consulting and insurance brokerage firm. The operation is valued at R$ 300 million, plus R$ 500 million in debts of the operator that will be assumed by Motta.
In a statement, Assim Saúde confirmed to GLOBO the negotiations and stated that it "expects the opinion of regulatory bodies." The operation is being analyzed by the Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar (ANS) on two fronts: the Directorate of Operator Licensing (Diop) evaluates the economic-financial details, and the Directorate of Standards and Product Licensing (Dipro) analyzes whether the new owner meets the required requirements.
