The Polidesportivo do Brejo, in the city of Alverca, is used daily by many dozens of informal sport practitioners. This type of free-access facility is scarce in the city.

A few years ago, the Câmara Municipal de Vila Franca de Xira decided to improve the sports court. However, the synthetic surface has been deteriorating day by day in recent months.

This degradation may be related to possible misuse, natural wear, or limitations of the material used in the surface. The current state of the sports court has been humorously compared to a golf course.
