The Attorney General, Amadeu Guerra, confirmed that the Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the current national director of the Judicial Police, Carlos Cabreiro. The investigation concerns alleged illegal wiretapping of hacker Rui Pinto.
Carlos Cabreiro categorically denies the existence of illegal wiretapping of Rui Pinto and guarantees he told the truth on this matter. His statements come in the context of the investigation process involving him.
The Attorney General again promised speed in the processes involving the Minister of Internal Administration, but refused to provide any deadline for their conclusion. This position comes at a time of growing pressure on the government regarding these issues.
Rui Pinto, the well-known hacker, is at the center of this controversy after allegedly being targeted by wiretapping considered illegal by Portuguese authorities, which prompted the opening of an investigation process that now involves the director of the Judicial Police himself.
