The Supreme Federal Court ruled this Tuesday on the Federal Police report that identified 52 messages sent by former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, to Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The analysis brings together in the plenary justices appointed by different presidents of the Republic, who adopt distinct positions on the conduct of the case.
The STF currently has 10 of the 11 justices provided for in its composition. The seat left open by the retirement of Luís Roberto Barroso has not yet been filled. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appointed the Attorney General, Jorge Messias, to the position, but the Senate rejected the nomination in April of this year, by 42 votes to 34.
With the Senate's refusal, Messias did not become a justice and the seat remains vacant. The current composition of the court brings together justices appointed by five presidents of the Republic: Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Dilma Rousseff, Michel Temer, and Jair Bolsonaro.
