LVMH, owner of Louis Vuitton, lost its position as France's most valuable company and left the group of Europe's 10 largest listed companies for the first time since 2017. The decline represents a symbolic reversal for the luxury giant that led the regional market during the post-pandemic boom.
LVMH shares fell 2.6% on Tuesday, reducing the company's market value to €201 billion (US$232 billion). As a result, LVMH fell slightly below L'Oréal, which has a market value of approximately €203 billion.
Bernard Arnault, owner of LVMH, had previously left the list of the 10 richest men in the world. Chief Investment Strategist Vincent Juvyns commented on the situation, stating that Europe is not back and that the continent's main growth engine, the luxury sector, is "broken."
