Pizzeria in Tijuca elected 70th best in the world; see which one

oglobo15 September 2026 at 18:03

Bento Pizzeria, located in Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, ranked 70th in the Top Pizza World 2026 ranking. The announcement was made this Tuesday in Naples, Italy, a city recognized as the birthplace of traditional pizza.

The pizzeria was created in 2022 by entrepreneur João Lemos, with the goal of offering Rio de Janeiro an experience faithful to Neapolitan culture, maintaining the traditional methods, techniques, and ingredients of the Italian city. The operation began with delivery and, in 2023, the location in Tijuca was opened, with the arrival of Italian chef and pizzaiolo Pierluigi Russo.

The house's best-selling flavors are Bento, for R$63, made with pomodoro pelati sauce, mozzarella fior di latte, artisanal calabresa, gorgonzola, and spiced olive oil; and Margherita DOC, for R$65, with pomodoro pelati sauce, fresh buffalo mozzarella, grape tomato, parmesan, and basil.

The second location of Bento will open in October 2026.

Why this matters

This achievement places Rio de Janeiro on the international gastronomic scene, directly benefiting tourism and the local economy, while also highlighting Tijuca as a center of culinary excellence that competes with establishments from around the world.
