Japan has around 100 thousand people aged at least a century old, highlighting the accelerated aging process of the Japanese population.
Experts point to diet as one of the main factors associated with longevity in the country. The traditional Japanese diet is mainly based on the consumption of fish, vegetables and rice.
Due to the aging population, consumption habits in Japan have also undergone significant changes. An example of this is that the sale of adult diapers already surpasses that of baby diapers in the country.
