The section of National Road 114 between Santarém and D. Luís Bridge is expected to remain closed for at least another ten months. The reopening of the road is now scheduled for summer 2027.
The worsening of the road's stability problems required additional geotechnical works. These extra works ruled out the possibility of temporarily reopening one traffic lane, a solution that had been advocated by the City Council.
The forecast was announced by councilor Pedro Gouveia during a meeting. The local official reported that the problems identified on the road have worsened, requiring more complex interventions than initially planned.
