The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, opened the extraordinary session on Tuesday aimed at analyzing the developments of the case involving Minister Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master. In a speech of about eight minutes, Fachin defended collegiality and asked for "sensibility, decorum and serenity" from the Court ministers.
The tone adopted by the president occurs after an escalation of the internal crisis at the STF. The case was marked by a war of official letters, divergences about secrecy and access to the material seized by the Federal Police, as well as an exchange of accusations between ministers. The crisis reached the point where a member of the Court asked for another member to be investigated.
The origin of the dispute lies in messages found by the PF on Vorcaro's phone. The material was analyzed at the request of André Mendonça, rapporteur of investigations related to Banco Master. The PF produced a report on the case.
