Justice Nunes Marques declared himself disqualified from participating in the trial of the Federal Police report containing messages exchanged between banker Daniel Vorcaro and Justice Alexandre de Moraes at the Supreme Federal Court. The decision was made after dialogues were revealed mentioning payments of R$ 500 thousand made by Vorcaro to his son, attorney Kevin Marques.
The trial was considered historic for potentially making Alexandre de Moraes the first Court member to be investigated. During the session, Nunes Marques explained he did not feel comfortable participating in the process due to the potential political-electoral impact of the case, especially given his position as president of the Superior Electoral Court.
Nunes Marques stated he never judged cases related to Banco Master and emphasized he has not exchanged messages with Daniel Vorcaro. He requested that it be recorded that there is no record of any communication between himself and the banker. The disqualification was declared before the start of the debates on the case.
