The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, and Justice Flávio Dino had a heated exchange during the trial about messages attributed to Justice Alexandre de Moraes found on banker Daniel Vorcaro's phone. The back-and-forth occurred after Dino interrupted Justice Dias Toffoli's statement during the session.
Fachin demanded that Dino request the floor from the Presidency before making any intervention, insisting that his colleague follow the Court's internal rules. Toffoli was speaking about his decision to step away from reporting on the case and explained that, in a meeting with the other justices, Dino had suggested that he leave the case to preserve the STF given the case's repercussions.
Toffoli stated that all justices had access to the full report and his defense regarding the case. When cited by Toffoli during the session, Dino interrupted his colleague's speech to make an intervention, which prompted Fachin's demand about the need to respect the rules and formally request the floor before speaking.
