Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace from South Carolina, in the United States, publicly defended that Lindsay Clancy, the woman on trial after killing her three young children, be "executed in public". The 48-year-old lawmaker, mother of two who is at the end of her term, made the statements to the TMZ website on Monday (14/9), describing the measure as a "warning to women" so they do not kill their children.
Nancy Mace stated that Lindsay "should receive the death penalty" and that "it should be in public" and "a public execution". "Her children are dead. She should be too," the congresswoman said, adding that Lindsay "is a serial killer" and "doesn't deserve anything less than that." The lawmaker indicated that the method of execution could be "by firearm" or "on the electric chair", saying "either way" works for her.
Lindsay Clancy may face a new trial for the alleged death of her three young children, after the previous trial ended without a verdict. The jury was divided earlier this month, resulting in a mistrial. The case is being tried at the Plymouth courthouse in Massachusetts, United States.
