Maria Bertrand, from Vale do Paraíso and Queen of the Harvest of the Municipality of Azambuja 2026, was elected Ambassador of the Wine Territories of Portugal after winning the national final of the competition held on the night of September 12, in Vidigueira. The young woman represented the municipality of Azambuja in this competition that aims to enhance the value of Portuguese wine-growing territories and culture, winning first place among the competing candidates.
In addition to the Ambassador title, Maria Bertrand also received the "Most Popular Online" award, a distinction that recognizes the support and preference earned from the public through online voting. The Municipality of Azambuja considered that this double distinction represents a source of pride and reinforces the municipality's visibility in the national landscape associated with wine-growing tradition.
The election of the Ambassador of the Wine Territories of Portugal is promoted by the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities (AMPV) and aims to enhance the value of the identity, culture and traditions of national wine-growing territories, while also giving visibility to the role of young representatives in promoting their municipalities.
