An "expected" increase in road traffic on alternative routes to the Inner Beltway (VCI) may lead to a reinforcement of the GNR's presence on the roads, the Republican National Guard revealed. This situation arises in the context of works or restrictions affecting the VCI, the circular road of Porto.
The GNR pointed out which motorways it admits may experience more impact from the diversion of VCI traffic. The main alternatives identified are the motorways that surround the city of Porto and serve as a bypass to the inner beltway.
The military authorities revealed that they are attentive to the evolution of the situation and anticipate a significant increase in vehicle flow on alternative routes during the restriction period. This reinforcement of enforcement aims to guarantee road safety given the expected increase in traffic.
The GNR emphasized its role in monitoring traffic flow changes and stated that it will adjust police deployment according to the actual situation. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance, considering the use of alternative routes to avoid possible congestion.
