The Freguesia de Mafra received a transfer of 366,666.27 euros from the Municipality for the exercise of transferred competencies in the management of public spaces. This process of transferring competencies from Municipalities to the bodies of the Freguesias aims to reinforce local functions, guarantee greater proximity to citizens and improve efficiency in the execution of urban maintenance tasks. The freguesias must apply these resources exclusively in the areas for which they were transferred.
Of the total amount allocated, 163,728.17 euros are destined for the management of green spaces, 135,187.19 euros for roads and public spaces, 50,524.56 euros for the maintenance and repair of urban furniture and 16,206.00 euros for the maintenance of fairs. The values were defined based on geographical, demographic, economic and social criteria of the freguesias in the municipality, calculated for a one-year period.
The listing of roads and public spaces covers 505 items, including roads, small squares, plazas, streets and alleys, with investments ranging between 8.38 euros and 1,965.56 euros. Among the higher investments are Avenida Senhora da Lapa in Barreiralva with 1,965.56 euros and Rua Principal in Gorcinhos with 1,897.45 euros. Regarding green spaces, the values range between 11.58 euros and 28,270.08 euros, the latter destined for the garden at Rua da Padaria in Póvoa de Cima.
In addition to the Municipality transfer, the Freguesia de Mafra also received 191,643.05 euros from the State Budget in 2026, calculated based on criteria defined by the Government that include the resident population and geographical, economic and social indicators. According to the 2021 Census, the Freguesia de Mafra has 20,781 inhabitants.
