The Ministry of Education managed to place all 613 students who were without a school in Lisbon. However, this situation is only the tip of the iceberg, as the problem extends nationwide and the government has not yet revealed how many students are in this situation throughout the country.

The Executive is considering two administrative solutions to address the lack of places in schools: opening new classes or increasing the number of students per classroom. Both measures would be applied nationwide to accommodate students who were unable to enroll in public schools.

The problem mainly affects students involved in transition processes: those who moved from one municipality or district, and those who transferred from private schools to public schools. These students cannot secure a place at the start of the school year, creating a situation that the Education Minister himself, Fernando Alexandre, has already classified as a "serious irregularity".
