On Monday afternoon, failures occurred in the internet and mobile network services of operators MEO, NOS, Vodafone and DIGI in several areas of Portugal. From 5:30 PM, multiple users began reporting problems, mainly related to internet access and mobile communications.
MEO confirmed it was the target of a mass attack, which caused congestion and degradation of the international network. The company publicly acknowledged the source of the problem, differentiating itself from the other affected operators.
According to the Downdetector platform, which provides real-time information on the operational status of websites, applications and Internet services, significant alerts were recorded about the failures in Portuguese operators' operations.
The incident simultaneously affected multiple telecommunications operators in Portugal, causing widespread disruptions to communication services during Monday afternoon.
