Brazil and Angola boost food and beverage industry exports in 2026

SAPO Notícias15 September 2026 at 11:28

Non-EU markets continue to be the main destination for food and beverage industry exports, with sales totaling 1.5 billion euros. This value reflects the growing weight that countries outside the European Union have assumed in this industry's export sector.

Brazil stood out as the main driving force behind this growth, contributing an increase of 25.5% in exports to that market. This significant performance positions the South American country as one of the main trading partners for the food and beverage sector.

Angola emerged as the second market with the highest contribution to export growth, having recorded an increase of 22.1%. The Angolan market has demonstrated growing demand for food and beverage products from this industry.

The 2026 data confirms the strategic importance of African and South American markets for the sector, which has found expansion opportunities in these destinations that offset the lower dynamics observed in European markets.

Why this matters

Portuguese food and beverage exporters directly benefit from this trend, being able to direct commercial strategies toward these growing markets. Angolan and Brazilian consumers will have greater access to Portuguese products, while national companies gain market share in these Lusophone and South American countries.
