Eurostat's first estimates indicate that the euro area external trade surplus reached €14.2 billion in July, a value higher than the €10.7 billion recorded in the same period of 2025. This result represents a significant improvement in the trade balance of the euro area.
Euro area goods exports stood at €276.0 billion, representing growth of 9.0% compared to July 2025. Simultaneously, imports from the rest of the world were at €261.8 billion, recording a rise of 7.9% compared to the same period last year.
Regarding the aggregate of the 27 European Union member states, the trade surplus fell to €8.0 billion, below the €9.8 billion of July 2025. EU exports to outside the bloc amounted to €247.1 billion, with an increase of 7.8%, while imports totaled €239.1 billion, rising 9.0%.
