A man won a scooter in a contest organized by Pingo Doce, but ended up not receiving the prize. The reason for the non-award of the prize was related to the fact that the participant used the NIF (tax identification number) of the company where he works for the purposes of participating in the contest.
Pingo Doce defended that it fully complied with all duties of communication, information, clarity and transparency regarding the contest and its respective participation rules. The supermarket chain claimed to have acted correctly throughout the entire process.
The case raised questions about participation rules in promotional contests and the conditions required for the legitimate awarding of prizes to consumers.
