A man was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level of 2.49 grams of alcohol per liter of blood during a police operation carried out between September 7 and 13, 2026 in Portalegre, according to a PSP statement. This was the highest level among three arrests related to driving under the influence, with the other two drivers presenting levels of 1.62 g/l and 1.90 g/l, respectively.
During the same period, authorities also arrested a man for driving without a legal license and another for drug trafficking, seizing 15 individual doses of hashish. The police action included nine road inspection operations, in which 277 vehicles were checked, also resulting in the detection of one case of lack of mandatory insurance and two violations for absence of periodic inspection.
The PSP also carried out two visibility operations in areas with higher concentration of people, two actions to combat drug trafficking and consumption, and one inspection operation within the scope of private security. Regarding road accidents, four traffic accidents were recorded, resulting in one serious injury, two minor injuries, and material damage to the vehicles involved.
