The Holy See condemned today the continued use of cluster munitions and called for universal ratification of the international treaty banning them, in a statement delivered by Archbishop Ettore Balestrero during the III Review Conference of the Convention on Cluster Munitions, being held in the capital of Laos.
The Vatican diplomat emphasized that these devices create wounds that damage the very structure of life, affecting the social fabric of human communities, and considered it a serious imbalance to channel disproportionate resources to armaments,
