Maximum temperatures are registering a sharp drop in mainland Portugal, potentially reaching 10°C in just 24 hours. This weather change reverses the positive thermal anomalies that were being felt, bringing back below-average values for this time of year.
The drop is particularly significant on the central coast of the country, also covering part of the northern coast and the Alentejo coast. The district capital of Leiria could register a drop of 10°C, exemplifying the intensity of this thermal change.
However, the interior region of the country presents a different scenario, maintaining elevated maximum temperatures that can reach 37°C. In these regions, positive thermal anomalies, meaning values above average, continue to occur.
This forecast was previously indicated by Meteored Portugal, which warned about the arrival of this cooler air mass that contrasts with the intense heat felt in previous days in various regions of Portuguese mainland territory.
