Children and young people are increasingly sedentary, which represents a threat to both physical and mental health, according to specialist Carlos Neto. This trend has led to an increase in problems related to overweight and obesity among the younger population.
Beyond the physical consequences, such as the development of diabetes, the lack of physical activity is also associated with mental health problems. Carlos Neto points out that sedentary children and young people face greater risks of developing anxiety, depression and other psychological disorders.
The specialist highlighted that the increasingly sedentary lifestyle of children and adolescents contributes to a diverse set of health problems that go beyond body weight and affect the emotional and psychological well-being of young people.
