The Via de Cintura Interna (VCI) in Porto has now implemented restrictions on the circulation of heavy vehicles during weekdays, between 7am and 9pm. This measure aims to control traffic on this route that crosses the city and is frequently used by trucks and large vehicles.
During the restriction period, only heavy vehicles heading to the Port or to Vila Nova de Gaia can travel on the VCI on weekdays. This exception was created to avoid harming the port and logistics activities of both cities.
The implementation of these restrictions comes within the scope of a traffic management plan in the city of Porto, which aims to reduce congestion and improve road fluidity on one of the main routes in the region. The authorities intend to minimize the impact of heavy vehicles on urban traffic during peak hours.
