The fires in Proença-a-Nova started on Monday afternoon and continued until Tuesday morning. The fire consumed brush and forest area for several hours, but the situation was eventually controlled.
The authorities did not record any injuries during the firefighting efforts. No damage to homes was also reported, which means the local populations did not suffer losses to their houses.
In fighting the fires, 800 operatives and 270 vehicles were mobilized. This deployment made it possible to stop the spread of the flames and guarantee the safety of the affected area.
