Thousands of trucks are prohibited from circulating on the VCI (Inner Beltway) from this Tuesday. This restriction applies to heavy goods vehicles weighing over 12 tonnes.
The measure comes with the aim of bringing relief to the intense traffic that has been recorded on this important circulation route linking Porto and Gaia. The VCI is one of the busiest roads in the Northern region.
Trucks affected by the ban will have to use alternative routes to cross the two cities. Authorities expect that the reduction in heavy traffic will contribute to smoother circulation.
The implementation of this restriction is expected to have a significant impact on the quality of life of residents in areas adjacent to the VCI, reducing noise, pollution, and congestion that were frequent on that road.
