The environmental association Zero today made an appeal to the Portuguese Government to commit to the progressive reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFC). These are gases used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Zero warns that HFCs have a high global warming potential, contributing significantly to climate change. For this reason, the association considers it essential that Portugal adopt more ambitious measures to limit the use of these substances.
The request arises in the context of international commitments to combat climate change, where the progressive elimination of gases with high global warming potential is one of the defined environmental priorities.
