The Supreme Federal Court (STF) met on Tuesday for an unprecedented session, convened amid the biggest internal crisis faced by the Court in recent years. At the center of the discussion are messages found by the Federal Police (PF) on the phone of banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, that make reference to Justice Alexandre de Moraes.
The Federal Police prepared a report about the seized material at the request of Justice André Mendonça, rapporteur of investigations related to Banco Master. The document was forwarded to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and triggered a succession of decisions, official letters and accusations among members of the Court, also involving the PF itself, the PGR and the Office of the Attorney General (AGU).
The president of the STF, Edson Fachin, ended up assuming the conduct of the case in an attempt to contain the escalation of the crisis. It will be up to the plenary to discuss the developments regarding the relationship between Moraes and Vorcaro.
