Flamengo sent documents to the Public Ministry justifying the suspicions of overcrowding in Maracanã sectors, stating that the club did not exceed the stadium's security report limits. According to the club, in the investigated games there were no more than 73,000 paying spectators, as indicated by Military Police documents.
The investigation, revealed by GLOBO newspaper, points to ticket sales above the permitted limit. The suspicion already proven by Maracanã spreadsheets is that the North and reserved seats sectors have more people than allowed by the security reports. On this specific point, Flamengo did not present a justification.
Flamengo took a political stance and made itself available to the Public Ministry for additional clarifications and to make adjustments to the ticket policy. Fluminense, on the other hand, sent some justifications for ticket sales above the permitted limit, although the club did not register overcrowding of sectors or of the stadium as a whole.
