The leader of the PP in the Senate, Tereza Cristina (MS), announced on Monday that she will present a bill to reform the Judiciary. The parliamentarian stated that the bill aims to clearly define the competencies of the Judiciary, prevent judges from legislating through their decisions, and create external control mechanisms that currently do not exist.
The announcement comes amid a crisis at the Supreme Federal Court, which has pitted ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça against each other over the direction of investigations involving the Master bank financial scandal case.
Tereza Cristina defended that society is mature for this debate and that it is time to establish limits, guarantee more transparency, and preserve the balance between the branches of government.
The statement was made during a press conference at the Senate, which also featured the participation of Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), coordinator of the presidential campaign of candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), the party to which Tereza Cristina is allied.
