The Supreme Federal Court announced on Monday that journalists will not have access to the Court's courtroom during the trial on messages sent by former banker Daniel Vorcaro to Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The decision restricts presence at the location only to "accredited" people, who must seal their cell phones, turned off, in security bags during the Tuesday session.
According to a note released by the STF, journalists will have access only to the marquee of the court's building, not to the courtroom of the highest court. The measure represents a significant change in relation to the usual practices of journalistic coverage of Supreme sessions.
Initially, the Court had released on Friday a notice about accreditation for access to the courtroom for the Tuesday session, indicating that entry would be restricted to "previously accredited people." Over the weekend, however, the accreditation process was reopened, further expanding the access restrictions to the location.
