Earlier this year, the Belgian government approved a set of measures to make alcohol advertising rules stricter, with the aim of reducing young people's exposure to alcoholic beverage marketing.
The proposed new rules provide for the prohibition of alcoholic beverage advertising in media where at least 30% of the audience consists of minors under 18. The measure also covers digital influencers whose audience is predominantly made up of minors.
Additionally, alcoholic beverage advertisements must include the mandatory warning "alcohol harms health," alerting consumers to the risks associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
