Manoella Duarte, wife of former Rio state congressman Rodrigo Bacellar, publicly criticized her husband's prison conditions. Bacellar has been imprisoned since July at the Federal Penitentiary of Mossoró, in Rio Grande do Norte. The criticisms were made this Monday on the businesswoman's personal profile, in a long post reproduced by the g1 portal.
Among the allegations made by Duarte, she states that the cell "has no fan" and that Bacellar "takes a bath using a cup." The businesswoman also declared that the former congressman "sleeps with soap on his body so mosquitoes don't get close" and that he shows "marks from handcuffs on his body."
Duarte said she is not a person who exposes her personal life and never imagined making a post like that. She revealed that for two months she had been unable to see her husband, and that when she finally managed to meet him last Thursday, she found him in conditions that no longer allowed her to remain silent.
Rodrigo Bacellar was president of the Rio de Janeiro State Legislative Assembly. The wife's post was made on Manoella Duarte's personal profile and later reproduced by the g1 portal, generating repercussions about the conditions of inmates at the federal penitentiary.
