Around 200 people demonstrated today in Izmir, in southern Turkey, to protest against an anti-LGBT+ police operation carried out on Sunday. The protests come following an action by authorities against the LGBT+ community in the country.
The police intervened to disperse the demonstrators, using tear gas. Two protesters were detained by authorities, one of whom is a lawyer.
During the protest, various slogans were chanted, including "In defiance of hate, live life!", "You will never walk alone" and "May your so-called 'holy family' go to hell," expressing the indignation of the participants against the police operation.
