Queerioca, the first reference LGBTQIAPN+ cultural center in Rio de Janeiro, began a new phase with the move to a historic three-story townhouse at Rua da Quitanda, number 81, in the central region of the city. Previously, the project occupied Arco do Teles since 2024 and now expands both its structure and its proposal to offer culture, welcome and services to the LGBTQIAPN+ population.
The move was supported by the Reviver Centro project and the Municipal Secretary of Culture, happening amid the growth of the programming and activities developed by the venue. The new address was designed to bring together different languages and experiences in one space.
The colonial property will feature an exhibition room, bookstore, gastronomic area and a future cinema-theater. A curiosity that crosses the building's history is the presence of a pole dance bar left behind by the nightclub that previously operated at the location.
The structure will also continue hosting ballrooms, voguing balls, music and cinema, with a show by Linn da Quebrada marking the inauguration of the new space.
