The Iniciativa Liberal (IL) party refused to comment on the possible creation of a parliamentary inquiry commission into the Education sector. This position was taken at a time of political tension between parties.
IL accused the Socialist Party (PS) of hypocrisy on this issue. This accusation comes in the context of a broader debate about how the government and parties have been addressing problems in the Education sector.
Mariana Leitão, an IL member, stated that compulsory education "obviously must have places for students," acknowledging a basic need of the system. However, she argued that this is not the right time to speculate about what happened.
The party thus maintains a cautious stance, avoiding taking a clear position for or against the inquiry commission, while directing criticism at PS.
